I received a university training in meticulous research methods, as a young man,
and I visit London, with its great museums, fairly frequently.
I do fairly frequent research for my clients so my skills have stayed in good order.
I'm expert at tracing sources and following up leads, and the years of Model Boatbuilder have built up a most useful network of knowledgeable contacts.
I charge £2O per hour plus expenses for this service
- a great deal can be uncovered in an hour or two.
Restoration
I have a great love of both old ships and old models, and as well, a considerable knowledge of old modelling techniques. My parents were historians, and my own knowledge as a student of historic vessels is very competent.
I don't like over-restoration, where the extent of the new work and materials incorporated destroys the patina of age. If you have a family (or company) heirloom which needs tender loving care, I can restore it sympathetically.
Careful, full discussion is especially vital in restoration projects to ensure I know your preferences, and you know what is possible, and what is not.
Part Completion of Your Model
If you have a part-completed model, I'll finish it for you. The work involved in a job of this nature can range from the very simple to the extremely complex, so I need careful discussion before taking it on.
